Parklands Primary School is a nationally renowned primary school where former headteacher, Chris Dyson, and his staff have worked tirelessly to improve the outcomes of their pupils for many years.

As part of this ongoing mission, Mr. Dyson gave Setter Play the honour of redeveloping a vast swathe of their outdoor spaces in a hugely transformative design, with works taking place through Autumn 2022.

Works included an enormous artificial grass sports pitch, with markings for an 11-a-side game from end-to-end, or two 5 or 6-a-side games side-by-side. This project included a trench cut to the entire perimeter for stability, as well as drainage holes in the tarmac sub-base below to ensure that the space has good rainwater drainage.

We also repainted their lower tarmac play area, in order to install some new line markings throughout, including tennis courts at the request of their PE lead Anthony Wilkinson, who was enthusiastic at the different uses that the line markings could have for their pupils.

Our work at Parklands also included a 10m x 5m Outdoor Classroom, complete with benches to provide ample seating for a couple of classes of pupils, and all-weather surfacing underfoot.

Our designs on the main play area finished with an expansive adventure trail looping around their grass space, providing their pupils with ample opportunities to develop fine- and gross-motor skills whilst having fun.

The trail also featured rubber mulch safety surfacing underfoot, complete with a stone base for durability, longevity and reliability.
