New school playground equipment for the new school year

Need help choosing the perfect new playground equipment for the 2023/24 school year? Here are some of our top recommendations!

With the Summer holidays long gone, the 2023/24 school year is well underway.

Now that the playground is brimming with eager children, you might be eyeing your old wooden play units and adventure trails and wondering how you can switch things up to make your students’ break times more fun and engaging.

And the answer? New school playground equipment!

Many schools like to transform their outdoor areas during the six-week holidays, but it’s never too late to invest in quality playground equipment to give your playground a much-needed facelift.

In this blog, our experts here at Setter Play share our favourite new school playground pieces to make the new school year exciting for all.

School playground classics

You know what they say…

Why fix what isn’t broken?

You can’t beat the classics – we’re talking swings, zip wires, wobble walks, all the good stuff – and they’re guaranteed to make playtimes fun and engaging for generations of school children.

Not only will your students be able to blow off some steam in between lessons, but this kind of playground equipment will help younger pupils develop essential fine and gross motor skills.

Activity trails

Another classic, activity trails (also referred to as trim trails) are a fantastic addition to your school playground.

They provide endless play opportunities for children and allow them to challenge their balance, grip-and-grasp, agility and strength, among other things – such as encouraging children to play imaginatively and think outside the box.

With trails of all different sizes and difficulties, there’s something perfect for children of all ages and abilities, and they’re sure to provide decades of entertainment.

Abstract play units

Not only do abstract play units make your playground look more visually enticing and provide the ideal way for children to expend their energy, but they also support growth and development.

Take our pyramids for example.

A modern twist on the 70s favourite, this play unit allows children, particularly older primary school pupils, to develop their physical strength and use critical thinking skills to navigate the play unit.

We also stock a range of climbing frames that are suitable for younger, KS1 students that support core development and encourage out-the-box thinking without any restrictions.

Thermoplastic line markings

If your old playground pieces still have a bit of life left in them, or you don’t have the space to incorporate new units, line markings could be all you need to transform your outdoor area.

They’re the simplest, most cost-effective way to inject colour into your playground, and – being available in so many different forms – they offer endless opportunities for your children to learn and develop. All whilst having the time of their lives.

From roadway towns for students to use their trikes, bikes and scooters in an orderly fashion, to traditional activity line markings – like snakes and ladders and hopscotch – to improve key skills, such as hand eye coordination.

What’s more, in helping students blow off some steam during break and lunch times, some simple line markings can also help boost their mental well-being and increase their confidence!

Bespoke play units

Sometimes, it can be hard to find the perfect piece for your playground.

If you have something specific in mind, or you need to adjust the dimensions of a particular piece so that it’s the ideal fit for your school, you could benefit from a bespoke design. And we can help with that here at Setter Play.

Working with our highly skilled designers and craftspeople, you can design your play units to follow your preferred colour schemes and style and ensure that they fit seamlessly into your outdoor area.
