As part of their expansion programme, Chesterton Primary near to Bicester had to remove and replace all of their old play equipment. After many years in the making, Setter Play were chosen to deliver their new play scheme, created behind their sports pitches on their school field.

Our popular Twig Hill climber was the school’s firm favourite, with an engaging mix of new activities plus a nod to some old favourites which had to be removed because of their expansion.

The space was finished with an upgraded up-and-over playhouses, with a climbing wall on the roof, and log ladder and scramble net up either side. A bench below the roof provides a space for rest and relaxation amongst the excitement of their new play area.

The school opted for rubber mulch on a stone base foundation, to provide a dependable and durable surface that also blends in nicely with the surrounding grass.

Twig Hill’s prominent central platform can be seen in the picture below, with lots of trail and free-form climbing and clambering activities emanating outwards and providing ample room for the whole school to play.

As part of the contract Setter Play were also chosen to complete their new nursery play area, with a variety of textures and colours to provide dependable all-weather access throughout the space.

Setter Play were also chosen due to our capabilities with regard to a deep soakaway channel beneath the play area, which we re-enforced before creating the design at ground level.

The school are overjoyed with the new scheme and we are very proud of another job well done.
