Kensington Academy in East London contacted Setter Play after we were recommended to their Trust CEO by another long-time customer of ours. After creating a masterplan for their grounds, they broke the project into phases to achieve over the next year, beginning with their KS1 play area.

Here we proposed an artificial grass sports pitch to brighten up their tarmac space, and provide a focused and contained area for ball games during breaktimes and lessons.

The pitch is complete with markings for football, and a metal fence to contain balls in the space and also ensure children don’t run into the boundary wall of the school’s grounds, as this features lots of sharper points and brick buttresses.

Our proposals also included our newly designed ‘Clamber Crag’, which is a huge climbing wall designed to test fine- and gross-motor skills.

Space is always at a premium in London, so we made sure to limit the new climbing features against the walls in the space, to maximise their useable space.

Black wetpour rubber safety surfacing helps to cushion accidental slips and falls.

We’re very proud to have completed this scheme over the Easter break, and look forward to delivering the next phases in the near future.
