Frequently Asked Questions

How long should school playground equipment last?

School playground equipment generally lasts 15 years from its installation date before it needs updating, but this can differ depending on the unit you select from our extensive range.

Here at Setter Play, we manufacture all our playground equipment to the highest standard, from the best quality materials – guaranteed to last for many years to come. You can stretch the lifespan of your play equipment by arranging regular inspections to ensure it’s in great condition and more importantly, safe for children to use.

How often should school playground equipment be inspected?

The safety of children doesn’t solely depend on the initial design of your new school playground. You need to make sure that it’s well-maintained. We recommend three types of inspection:

  • daily inspections
  • monthly inspections (more detailed)
  • annual inspection

Inspections will help to minimise your maintenance costs and keep your play equipment looking great for longer.

How to choose school playground equipment?

Before you jump in and create the coolest-looking play area – packed with fantastic equipment, take the time to weigh up all your options. School playgrounds aren’t just for fun. They help to develop vital communication and problem-solving skills from an early age, as well as fine motor skills. Make sure you take into consideration the age of your students, their abilities, the environment and your budget/funding.

At Setter Play, we supply a range of wooden playground equipment, bespoke play units and playground classics, as well as sports and fitness facilities, canopies and shelters. Unsure which equipment to choose? Feel free to contact the team on 01462 817 538 and we’ll happily guide and advise you.

Do your school playgrounds come with a guarantee?

Yes. All our wooden school playground equipment comes with a 15-year guarantee to ensure maximum life expectancy and to keep your maintenance costs to an absolute minimum. Our guarantee enables you to get the most out of your equipment and can be enjoyed by children for many years to come.

Are there any maintenance requirements for your school playground equipment?

Playgrounds are life-long learning environments. All findings from inspections should be recorded and maintained in a register, along with:

  • Site Plan
  • Full Equipment Details
  • Documentation of Planning and Development
  • Inspection and Maintenance Programmes
  • Action on Hazards

These records should be reviewed regularly by management to demonstrate compliance with legal responsibility.
