Hugh Myddelton Primary School in North London had a rare opportunity to redevelop ALL of their grounds during the summer holidays 2025, and we were hugely excited to win a very competitive tendering process and to be selected for the works. This case study is 1 of 2 parts, as I wanted to focus on the centrepiece: this quite incredible ‘Challenger’ climber!!

The climber reaches 3.9m in height and has a footprint of 16.3m x 4.2m, with multiple internal levels and floors inviting children to explore three dimensionally.

The school’s brief had a strict requirement for supervision, so we made sure to include lots of windows, balustrade panels and bubble windows, enabling their teachers to see through the climber.

The design has multiple different access points, including simple steps, ladders, scramble nets and tube nets.

A huge slide provides a thrilling route of descent, whilst a firemans pole provides more of a challenge for confidence and co-ordination

The different levels of the climber have various tunnels and net tubes linking different sections

The school opted for steel feet and post wraps on the uprights to provide the school with more longevity to their investment

This is one of those projects where we all stand there and think ‘wow’!

This was an incredible achievement by everyone (and I mean everyone!) at Setter, who all contributed to the design, manufacture and install of this climbing frame.
