What a project!

Finchampstead Parish Council enquired with Setter Play after one of their parish councillor’s happened to cycle past our work at Stadhampton (https://www.setterplay.co.uk/?s=stadhampton), and that fortuitous event lead to Setter Play being chosen to deliver this huge scheme in early 2026!

The parish council wanted to completely revamp the play area, and invited Setter Play in to discuss their requirements, survey the space, and start creating designs for their consideration.

Once their preferred supplier was chosen in late 2025, we began organising village consultations to hear residents’ thoughts and also invite local children to pick the colours of the various activities in the space, boosting community engagement and buy-in, and ensuring that everybody felt a sense of ownership in this huge, transformative project.

A couple of pictures from ‘before’…

Before

and after!

At the toddlers’ and infants’ end of the play space we included our popular Itsy Bitsy Bear climber, combining challenging free-form play with a traditional tower and slide

Climbing walls invite children to complete the course without touching the ground, and their popular play train was replaced with a role-play bus

Sensory mirror and music panels and a springy rocker complete the space and provide different styles of play

The toddler’s park also includes a set of 2 cradle swings

Progressing through the space we have included an area for older children to explore, including a see-saw and spinning bowl

A large trim trail incorporates some concrete mounds, covered in rubber mulch safety surfacing, to add an interesting twist to the challenge

Resident’s voted on the name of their centrepiece climber, engraved onto a prominent name board that catches the eye from across the park

The park’s centrepiece was one of our popular castle climbers, which delivered perfectly on their brief for a rustic and natural climbing frame in the space

A basket swing and set of 2 x flat seat swings add to the older children’s area

The park was completed with an in-ground trampoline, which was a very popular activity in the questionnaire’s sent out to locals, and is ideal for inclusive and wheelchair-accessible play

What a project!

This scheme was delivered in difficult conditions during Winter, and we are hugely proud of our installers’ and other contractors for the fantastic effort that they put in. The village is over the moon with our work, which makes it all worth it!
