Kate Greenaway Nursery in Islington were awarded a grant for a ‘scientific’ play area, and invited Setter Play to create a space for their little ones to learn about cause-and-effect and boost their teamwork and socialising skills whilst they discover, create and explore.

An archimedes screw lifts the water from a subterranean tank, before dropping it into a large basin on the raised platform

The water cascades back down from the platform into the natural rock pool, where children can splash around before the water drains back into the underground tank.

A large hand-pump also draws the water up from the tank.

A water wall features moveable funnels, for children to pour water in from buckets. Freestanding stands enable lengths of guttering to be threaded through, creating another channel for the water.

A bucket on a pulley chain lifts the water up to the top of the water wall to start again.

The basin projecting from the platform has a plug to stop the water

This multi-layered, multi-platform water play area is ideal for nursery aged-children to explore, with lots of different details, features and moving parts.
